Whenever we go shopping, we buy our favorite clothes. But this doesn’t happen blindly. We check the look and feel of the fabric and also the quality of it. Mostly we will find either cotton blend or poly cotton in these clothing materials.

Today we will discuss these most commonly used fabrics – poly-cotton and cotton blend fabric.

Poly cotton Fabrics

Polycotton fabric is a mixture of ploy yarn and cotton yarn The combination of these two fibers creates a fabric that has the advantages of both materials.
Cotton has characteristics of being a natural, soft, lightweight fabric whereas polyester gives durability, shine, and wrinkle-resistant features.

When both cotton and polyester get mixed, we get poly cotton out of it.

Generally, a poly-cotton fabric mix blend consists of 70% cotton and 30% polyester. There are blends that can contain 80% cotton and 20% poly but it depends on what type of fabric is made for what purpose.

But the percentage of cotton is always higher than polyester. During the making of this fabric, the mixture of cotton and polyester fibers is made and kept ready, and then they are blended to make it a polycotton fabric.

Polycotton fabric is often used in the production of clothing, bedding, and home furnishings. It is popular because it is more affordable than pure cotton or polyester fabrics, and is often more durable and easier to care for than 100% cotton fabrics.
